FUENGIROLA

Located just to the East of the popular coastal resort town of Fuengirola you will find the beautiful area of Los Boliches. With its white sandy beaches and miles of beautiful accessible promenade this quieter resort feels much more Spanish. It is extremely easy to get to and from Los Boliches train station you can go directly to Malaga Airport or Malaga city centre. There are also many bus routes taking you to East towards Malaga or West in the direction of Marbella.

Throughout the year you will notice the gentle hustle and bustle of daily Andalusian life. In the mornings and evenings the back streets are full of locals wondering around the many independent shops. Just a 10 minute walk from the apartment you will find an authentic Spanish indoor food market selling fish caught that day, meat and an abundance of colourful fresh fruit and vegetables.

In the hot Summer months around lunchtime when the locals usually cool off and take a siesta in their homes you will see many tourists out and about soaking up the Spanish sun.

There is always something going on in this popular resort of Los Boliches, and it boasts a wonderful mix of nationalities. During the Summer months it is affectionately referred to as the Costa del Cordoba, owing to the many Cordobans who escape the baking heat of their home city and come to the cooler coastal climate. It is also extremely popular with Scandinavians who emigrate South during the cold Winter months and head to this area with its warm temperate climate and all that Fuengirola has to offer.

At Los Boliches you can enjoy all the comforts you need for a relaxing break. This area boasts an extensive beachfront promenade with many amenities for dining and entertainment activities. The beach is cleaned thoroughly every day and has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, a distinction awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education.

For people with reduced mobility you will find the beach has easy access and a row of blue badge parking spaces right in front of the beach. Here you will also find a designated park that has been specially adapted for wheelchair users and anybody with special needs. You will also find many showers and children’s play areas dotted around the beachfront.

Recently nearly all of the chiringuitos (beach restaurants) have been completely reformed so you can chill out in modern surroundings whilst enjoying tasty fresh seafood and authentic Andalusian cuisine. You can rent comfortable sun loungers, beach umbrellas and paddle boats with slides. In the chiringuito directly in front of Palm Beach (La Mar Sala) you can hire a bed and umbrella for as little as €5 a day and this includes a free drink!

There are also numerous businesses along the coast that offer services such as boat rides, kayaking or diving and you can’t help but notice during the Summer months the large bouncy castle areas further out in the sea for older teenagers and adults to enjoy. There are numerous gyms and a paddle tennis club just a short stroll from the apartment for those who like to keep fit.

There are many restaurants all within walking distance offering a wide range of food and drink from all over the world. The port area, about a 20 minute walk from Palm Beach, is where you will find more bars and nightclubs and a mini amusement park with plenty of rides for the children to enjoy. Fuengirola Castle is about a 40 minute walk along the promenade and in the Summer it hosts an outdoor concert with many famous artists headlining the shows.
